Mulloidichthys là một chi cá biển thuộc họ Cá phèn. Chi này được lập bởi Gilbert Percy Whitley vào năm 1929.
Từ nguyên
Tên chi hiện tại là tên thay thế cho Mulloides Bleeker, 1849, vốn bị trùng lặp với Mulloides Richardson, 1843 (= Arripis). Tên này được ghép thêm ichthys ở sau, hàm ý đề cập đến sự tương tự về hình thái với Mullus nhưng khác về cấu tạo răng.[3]

- Mulloidichthys pfluegeri (Steindachner, 1900)
- Mulloidichthys vanicolensis (Valenciennes, 1831)
M. flavolineatus được Fernandez-Silva và cộng sự (2016) đề xuất tách thành hai phân loài: M. f. flavicaudus (Biển Đỏ và biển Ả Rập) và M. f. flavolineatus (Ấn-Thái Dương) dựa vào khác biệt về màu sắc vây đuôi.[5] Tuy nhiên, Uiblein và cộng sự (2020) cho rằng, những khác biệt đó chưa phải là bằng chứng mạnh để công nhận tính hợp lệ của M. f. flavicaudus.[6]
Phân bố
Riêng M. dentatus có phân bố ở Đông Thái Bình Dương và M. martinicus có phân bố ở Đại Tây Dương, các loài còn lại có phân bố tập trung ở vùng Ấn Độ Dương - Thái Bình Dương.
Sinh thái
Có 3 loài bắt chước kiểu hình của cá hồng Lutjanus kasmira, là M. ayliffe, M. mimicus và M. vanicolensis.[4]
