Trong hùng biện, parrhesia là một hình thức phát biểu được mô tả như: "Nói thẳng thắn, hoặc yêu cầu được tha thứ vì đã dám nói như vậy." [1]
Nguồn gốc
Thuật ngữ parrhesia đầu tiên xuất hiện trong văn học Hy Lạp trong Euripides và có thể được tìm thấy trong các bản văn Hy Lạp cổ đại trong cuối thế kỷ thứ tư và suốt thế kỷ thứ năm SCN [2] Thuật ngữ này được vay mượn từ tiếng Hy Lạp παρρησία (πᾶν "tất cả" và ῥῆσις "lời phát biểu, lời nói") có nghĩa đen là "nói tất cả mọi thứ" và mở rộng "nói chuyện một cách tự do", "nói mạnh dạn", hoặc "táo bạo".[3] Nó bao hàm không chỉ tự do ngôn luận, nhưng với nghĩa vụ nói sự thật cho công ích, thậm chí có nguy cơ đến cá nhân.
