Parupeneus orientalis là một loài cá biển thuộc chi Parupeneus trong họ Cá phèn. Loài này được mô tả lần đầu tiên vào năm 1933.
Từ nguyên
Tính từ định danh orientalis trong tiếng Latinh mang nghĩa là "ở phía đông", hàm ý đề cập đến tên gọi của đảo Phục Sinh, là nơi đã thu thập mẫu định danh của loài cá này.[1]
Phân bố
P. orientalis hiện chỉ được biết đến tại đảo Phục Sinh.[2]
Mô tả
Chiều dài cơ thể lớn nhất được ghi nhận ở P. orientalis là 25 cm (chiều dài chuẩn: standard length). Cá có một sọc trắng nằm ngay phía trên đường bên, phía trên sọc này được viền bởi một hàng các đốm đen sát nhau. Phần thân bên dưới đường bên màu nâu nhạt, có năm vạch đen hình vuông (mỗi vảy trong các vạch này đều mang một đốm đen), riêng vạch cuối cùng nằm ở phía trước cuống đuôi và kéo dài lên trên, cắt qua sọc trắng. Đầu màu xám ánh xanh lam ở phía trên. Các vây có màu xám sẫm đến đỏ nhạt.[2]
