Parupeneus posteli là một loài cá biển thuộc chi Parupeneus trong họ Cá phèn. Loài này được mô tả lần đầu tiên vào năm 1967.
Từ nguyên
Từ định danh posteli có lẽ được đặt theo tên của Emile Postel, công tác tại Viện Nghiên cứu Phát triển (Pháp), người chuyên nghiên cứu các loài cá ở đảo Réunion (địa điểm thu thập mẫu định danh của loài cá này) và từng cộng tác với các tác giả trong một bài nghiên cứu.[2]
Phân bố và môi trường sống
P. posteli hiện được biết đến tại Réunion và Mauritius, cũng như một số bãi cạn ở phía nam cao nguyên ngầm Mascarene, được thu thập ở độ sâu khoảng 58–250 m.[3]
Mô tả
Chiều dài cơ thể lớn nhất được ghi nhận ở P. posteli là 15 cm (chiều dài chuẩn: standard length). Cá có màu đỏ về phía lưng, thân dưới màu trắng. Có vạch đỏ tươi bao quanh cuống đuôi. Các vây màu đỏ, trừ vây đuôi màu vàng hoặc hồng.[3]

Phân loại
P. posteli tạo thành nhóm chị em với Parupeneus chrysonemus, Parupeneus louise, Parupeneus moffitti và Parupeneus sinai, đặc trưng bởi phần râu đặc biệt dài, số lượng lược mang nhiều và cuống đuôi dẹt hơn các loài Parupeneus khác.[4]
