Phoomyia là một chi ruồi thuộc họ Dolichopodidae. Chi này được ghi nhận phân bố tại vùng ven biển Sri Lanka, Thái Lan và Đông Ấn Độ, đồng thời có mối quan hệ họ hàng gần gũi với hai chi Argyrochlamys và Pseudargyrochlamys. Các loài thuộc chi Phoomyia dường như chỉ phân bố giới hạn tại các bãi biển cát, nơi chúng thường xuất hiện gần hang của loài thuộc phân họ Ocypodinae.[1]
Tên chi Phoomyia được kết hợp từ Phoo (bắt nguồn từ ปู, từ trong tiếng Thái có nghĩa là "con cua") và myia (nguồn gốc từ μυία, từ trong tiếng Hy Lạp nghĩa là "con ruồi").[1]
