Pilbara octava là một loài ruồi thuộc họ Dolichopodidae có nguồn gốc từ Úc, đồng thời là đại diện duy nhất của chi Pilbara.[2] Tên chi được đặt theo tên vùng Pilbara thuộc bang Tây Úc, nơi loài P. octava được phát hiện.[1] Địa điểm duy nhất ghi nhận sự xuất hiện của P. octava là tại khu vực Millstream thuộc sông Fortescue.[3]
