Pteroidichthys là một chi cá biển thuộc họ Cá mù làn. Chi này được lập bởi Pieter Bleeker vào năm 1856.
Từ nguyên
Tên chi được ghép bởi ba âm tiết trong tiếng Hy Lạp cổ đại: Pterois (tên một chi cá mù làn), eidḗs (ειδής; "giống") và ichthys ("cá"), hàm ý đề cập đến chi này có quan hệ gần với Pterois nhưng không có ngạnh trên đầu (ngoại trừ rìa nắp mang và trước nắp mang) cùng với các đặc điểm khác.[2]
Phân bố
Pteroidichthys tập trung chủ yếu ở vùng Tây Thái Bình Dương, rải rác hơn ở Tây Ấn Độ Dương.
Mô tả chung
Đầu và thân dẹt hai bên, thân dẹt rất sâu. Tua thịt trên mắt thường dài, phân nhánh ở những cá thể lớn.[3]
Phân loại
Pteroidichthys có quan hệ gần với chi Rhinopias.[3]
