Pywackia là một hóa thạch kỷ Cambri gây tranh cãi, được giải thích là loài Bryozoa (nhóm tổng) sớm nhất và là đại diện duy nhất của ngành đó trong kỷ Cambri..[1] Tính xác thực Bryozoa của nó đã bị đặt câu hỏi,[2] nhưng giả thuyết Octocoralia thay thế cũng không thuyết phục hơn là mấy, và có những lý do để đề xuất vị trí trong nhóm gốc của dòng dõi Stenolaemata.[3] Cuối cùng thì cấu trúc vi mô của bộ xương phù hợp với mối quan hệ với động vật ruột khoang, nhưng không đủ để hỗ trợ mối quan hệ gần gũi với bất kỳ phân nhóm hiện đại nào.[4]
