Tetrachaetus là một chi ruồi đơn loài thuộc họ Dolichopodidae, có phân bố tại New Zealand, với đại diện duy nhất là loài Tetrachaetus bipunctatus. Chi này ban đầu được Octave Parent mô tả vào năm 1933 với hai loài trực thuộc. Tuy nhiên, do Parent không chỉ định loài điển hình nên tên chi lúc đó không có hiệu lực phân loại; phải đến năm 1989, Daniel J. Bickel và C. E. Dyte mới chính thức chỉ định Tetrachaetus bipunctatus làm loài điển hình cho chi.[2]
Hai loài từng thuộc chi này là T. bipunctus và T. simplex về sau được xác định là cùng một loài (đồng nghĩa sinh học) và được sáp nhập thành loài Tetrachaetus bipunctatus Parent (1933) vào năm 2025.[3]
