Upeneus floros là một loài cá biển thuộc chi Upeneus trong họ Cá phèn. Loài này được mô tả lần đầu tiên vào năm 2020.
Từ nguyên
Từ định danh floros được đặt theo tên của Camilla Floros, nhà hải sinh học công tác tại Viện Nghiên cứu Hải dương học (Durban), người đã tổ chức việc thu thập mẫu định danh và ảnh chụp các mẫu vật của loài cá này tại vịnh Sodwana.[1]
Phân bố
U. floros xuất hiện dọc bờ biển giữa Angoche (Mozambique) và KwaZulu-Natal (Nam Phi).[2] Độ sâu thu thập trong khoảng 18–70 m.[3]
Mô tả
Chiều dài lớn nhất được ghi nhận ở U. floros là 14,4 cm (chiều dài chuẩn: standard length). Cá thường có màu trắng hoặc hồng bên dưới đường bên, được bao phủ bởi sắc tố đỏ phía trên đường bên, có thể lan xuống bụng và đến đầu, đôi khi tạo thành các đốm đỏ, bụng trắng. Thùy trên của vây đuôi có 4–6 vạch đỏ (hẹp hơn các khoảng trống giữa các vạch); thùy dưới có 4–8 vạch cùng màu, nối liền với một sọc đỏ dày ở phía trên, có 3–4 vạch xám đậm ngắn dọc theo rìa trên và chóp vây sẫm màu. Râu cá màu trắng.[3]

Phân loại
Dựa theo phân tích kiểu hình, U. floros nằm trong nhóm chị em của Upeneus pori.[4]
