Velukandakiya là một nữ đệ tử tại gia của Đức Phật. Velukandakiya có thể cùng là một người với Uttara Nandamata[1] (n.đ. 'mẹ của Nanda', không nên nhầm lẫn với Nan-đà, người anh em cùng cha khác mẹ của Đức Phật có cùng tên). [2]
Bà được tán dương là nữ cư sĩ đệ tử kiểu mẫu trong Tương Ưng Bộ Kinh (Saṃyutta Nikāya) 17.24, Người con gái duy nhất.
- "Này con, con nên trở thành như nữ cư sĩ Khujjuttarā và mẹ của Nanda xứ Velukandakiya. Vì đây là khuôn mẫu và tiêu chuẩn cho các nữ đệ tử tại gia của Như Lai, đó là nữ cư sĩ Khujjuttarā và mẹ của Nanda xứ Velukandakiya."[2]
Một nữ đệ tử quan trọng khác là Khujjuttara, đệ nhất đa văn. Một số ý kiến cho rằng Velukandakiya và Uttaranandamata là cùng một người nhưng cũng có nhiều người phản đối.[1]
