Baron
Baron adalah sebuah gelar bangsawan. Kata Baron berasal dari Bahasa Prancis kuno, yang berasal dari Bahasa Jerman Hulu Kuno dan Latin (liber) "baro", yang berarti "manusia (bebas), prajurit (bebas)". Kata itu digabungkan dengan kata yang serumpun dalam Bahasa Inggris Kuno, Beorn yang berarti "bangsawan".[1] kata baron berasal dari serapan yang memiliki beberapa arti kiasan yang berbeda-beda
Gelar ini sangat umum di banyak negara-negara Eropa, dalam berbagai bahasa (baik Jerman, Roman, Slavik dan lainnya), sering kali dalam bentuk yang sedikit berubah.[2]
