Fanariotes


Fanariotes (bahasa Yunani: Φαναριώτες, translit. Fanariótes, bahasa Rumania: Fanarioți, bahasa Turki: Fenerliler) adalah para anggota keluarga Yunani berpengaruh di Phanar[1] (Φανάρι, kini Fener),[2] wilayah Yunani utama di Konstantinopel dimana Patriarkat Ekumenikal berada, yang secara tradisional menduduki empat wilayah penting di Kekaisaran Utsmaniyah: Provinsi Moldavia, Provinsi Wallachia, Dragoman Besar, dan Dragoman Armada Besar. Selain konsmopolitanisme dan pendidikan yang lebih kebarat-baratan mereka, Phanariots sadar akan keturunan dan budaya Yunani mereka. Menurut Nicholas Mavrocordatos' Philotheou Parerga, "Mereka adalah ras Yunani secara utuh".[3]
