Type 92[1] je bila prva japanska tanketa čiji je prvi primjerak konstruiran 1931. Osmišljena je za upotrebu u konjici, za izviđanje i potporu pješadiji. Iako je bio lahki tenk, često je klasificiran kao oklopni automobil.[2]
