Gerres oblongus és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels gerrèids.^[2]

Descripció

Fa 30 cm de llargària màxima (normalment, en fa 15).
Aleta caudal fosca.^[3]^[4]^[5]

Reproducció

A Palau emigra a determinats indrets sorrencs (a prop de la vora exterior de l'escull) per a fresar al final de la tarda quan és lluna plena.^[6]

Alimentació

Menja petits organismes bentònics que viuen en els fons sorrencs.^[7]^[8]

Hàbitat

És un peix marí, de clima tropical (30°N-23°S) i associat als esculls.^[3]

Distribució geogràfica

Es troba des del mar Roig i l'Àfrica oriental fins a Samoa, Tonga, les illes Ryukyu i Nova Caledònia.^[3]^[9]^[10]^[11]^[12]^[13]^[14]^[15]^[16]^[17]^[18]^[19]^[20]^[21]^[22]^[23]^[24]^[8]^[25]^[26]^[27]^[28]^[29]^[30]^[31]^[32]^[33]^[34]^[35]^[36]^[37]^[38]^[39]^[40]^[41]^[42]
