Başmakçı Afyonkarahisar probintziako barrutietako bat da. 369 km²ko azalera du eta 15.772 biztanle ditu.
Historia
Hititen garaian sortu zen, K.a. 1750-1200 urteen inguruan. Geroago Frigiarren kolonia bilakatu zen eta geroago Lidiarrek, Persiarrek, Makedoniarrek eta Seleuzidek kolonizatu zuten. Horren ondoren Pergamoko erregeek, Erromatarrek eta Bizantinoek okupatu zuten.
Turkiar tribuak Anatoliara 1071ean iritsi ziren, horietako, batzuk Basmakciarrak, Azerbaijanetik etorri ziren. Otomanoen garaian ere garrantzia eduki zuen. 1892ean lurrikara batek nahikoa suntsitu zuen baina ez zen inor hil.
