Befana Italiako folkloreko pertsonaia da, emakume zahar bat haurrei opariak ematen dizkiena on Epifaniaren jai bezperan (urtarrilaren 5eko gauean) hala nola Olentzerok Euskal Herriko eguberrietan.[1] Izenaren beraren jatorria Epifania terminoan bertan egon daiteke, batzuen ustez.
Befana irudikatzen ohi dute erratz baten gainean hegan, xal beltz batekin estalia, eta normalean, Olentzero bezalatsu, kedarrez edo ikatzez zikina, etxeetara tximiniatik jaisten omen denez.
