Mandorla
Mandorla hitza Italierako mandorla hitza du jatorria eta arbendola ("almendra" Hego Euskal Herrian) esan nahi du. Obalo edo arbendola itxura du, hots, irudi eliptiko puntaduna, eta bertan pertsonaia sakratuen irudiak gaineratu ohi dira, horien artean, ohikoena, Jesu Kristo berpiztua da, baina baita maiz Ama Birjina edo santuak ere. Batez ere arte erromanikoan eta bizantziar artean erabili izan zen.
Historia
Jesu Kristoren berpizkundeko aingeruak Izara Santua eusten eta erromatar erretratuaren elementu tradizionalaren ezkutu borobilaren baturaren eskematizazioa da mandorlaren jatorria.

Mandorla bitxi baten adibidea Soriako Santo Domingo elizakoa aipatu daiteke; Hirutasuna mandorlan ageri da, aingeruez inguratua, ebanjelarien sinboloekin eta Ama Birjinarekin eta San Joan Bataiatzailearen irudiekin.
