Port Maria Jamaikako iparraldeko kostaldean dagoen hiri txiki bat da. Saint Mary parrokiako hiriburua da, Middlesex konderrian dagoena.
Port María bigarren hiria izan zen, Sevilla la Nuevaren ondoren, espainiarrek uhartean sortu zutena. [1] Bere jatorrizko izena Melilla zen, Berbaria kostaldean dagoen Melilla hiriaren omenez. Geroago, Melillaren aldaketa ingeles gisa María, Puerto María eta Puerto Santa María izena jarri zioten. [2]
1759an eraikitako Fort Haldane-ren hondakinak nagusitzen dira hirian, 1820an sortutako Gorte Jauregia eta 1861az geroztik existitzen den parrokia anglikanoa ere baditu. Elizaren ondoan Tacky Monument izeneko monumentua dago, 1760an Tackyk zuzendutako esklaboen matxinadaren (Pazkoko Matxinada) oroimenez.
Hiriak hondartza bat, uharte bat (Carbarita uhartea) eta kostalde bihurri eder bat ere baditu.
Port Maria Georgianna Robertson Sports Illustrated modeloaren jaioterria da.
Biztanleria
