Tristan[1] (britoieraz eta latinez: Drustanus; galesez: Trystan) Bretainiako materiaren heroia eta Mahai Biribileko Zaldunetako bat da, «Tristan eta Isolda» kondaira ospetsuaren protagonista izan zena.[2] Kondairan protagonistak ezinezko maitasuna bizitzera kondenaturik daude eta zenbait osatugabeko bertsio ditu.
Tristan Marko Kornualleskoa erregearen iloba izan zen. Osabak aginduta Isolda printzesa eraman behar zuen Kornuallesera erregea ezkontzeko. Hala ere, istripuz maitasun-edabe hartu ondoren biak maitemindu eta Tristanek bere jauna saldu zuen.[3]
Euskarazko izena ere bada. Euskaltzaindiak jatorri zelta edo germaniarreko izena dela dio.[4]
