Dire Straits
Dire Straits (sovent escrich dIRE sTRAITS) èra un grop de rock britanic fondat en 1977 pel cantaire, guitarrista e compositor anglés Mark Knopfler (nascut en 1949) ambe son fraire David Knopfler a la guitarra ritmica, John Illsley a la bassa, Pick Withers a la batariá, e oficialament desseparat en 1995 (en realitat, èra inactiu dempuèi 1993). Foguèt un grop màger del rock de las annadas 80 e del començament de las annadas 90.
Las cançons las mai conegudas de Dire Straits en Occitània son Money for nothing (1985), Sultans of swing (enregistrat en 1978, lor primièr succès en 1979), Walk of Life (1986), Private Investigations (1982), Your Latest Trick (1986 e 1993) e Calling Elvis (1991).
