Mark Freuder Knopfler (n.1949) es un musician, guitarrista, cantaire e compositor de rock britanic. Es subretot conegut per èstre estat lo guitarrista e compositor del grop Dire Straits que fondèt amb son fraire, David Knopfler, en 1977.
Dempuèi que Dire Straits se desseparèt en 1995, Knopfler a enregistrat e produit uèit albums solo, e mai d'unas cançons que foguèron de succèsses. Compausèt e produsiguèt nòu musicas de filmes coma Local Hero (1983), Cal (1984), The Princess Bride (1987), Wag the Dog (1997) e Altamira (2016).[1] En mai de son trabalh amb Dire Straits e de sas composicions en solo, Knopfler enregistrèt amb nombroses grands musicians, coma B.B.King, Chet Atkins, Chris Botti, John Anderson, the Chieftains, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Bryan Ferry, George Jones, Emmylou Harris, Jools Holland, Sonny Landreth, Phil Lynott, Donal Lunny, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Sting, e James Taylor, de còps que ia trabalhèt coma musician d'estudio. Produsiguèt tanben d'albums per Tina Turner, Bob Dylan, e Randy Newman.
