Ilhat (en francés tanplan coma en occitan)[1],[2],[3] es una comuna occitana de Lengadòc, situada dins lo departament d'Arièja e la region d'Occitània, ancianament de Miègjorn-Pirenèus.

Toponimia
La prononciacion es [i'ʎat]. Las fòrmas ancianas son Ylhato en 1390 e Ylhac en 1455[4].
Segon Dauzat, lo nom d'Ilhat ven del nom gallic d'òme Illius, ambe lo sufixe -acum[5], latinizacion del sufixe celtic -ācon.
Segon Negre, citat per Patrici Pojada, lo nom ven de l'occitan ilhat « lillà » (reculhit a La Ròca d'Òlmes).
Segon Patrici Pojada, la fòrma en -ac de 1455 es benlèu una reconstruccion. Una possibilitat, sense certitud, seriá la rasic paleobasca ĭllar « bruga », ambe l'element bascoïde at(e), çò qui poiriá donar lo sens de passatge, de pòrt (pòrt de la bruga) o un sens collectiu (lòc ont i a de bruga)[4].

- Abans la refòrma cantonala de 2014, aplicada en 2015, la comuna èra del canton de L'Avelhanet; es ara del canton del País d'Òlmes.
