Shamela o Una apología de la vida de la Sra. Shamela Andrews (En anglés An Apology for the Life of Mrs. Shamela Andrews) Es un roman satírica de Henry Fielding^[1] publicada en 1741 amb lo pseudonim de Mr. Conny Keyber. Foguèt un atac dirècte al roman Pamela o la vertut recompensada (1740), de Samuel Richardson, contemporanèu e rival de l'autor. Ambedós romans son epistolares.

Argument

Shamela Es escricha coma una revelacion dels veritables fachs qu'arribèron en la vida de Pamela Andrews, l'eroïna de Pamela. L'eroïna se sona pas en realitat Pamela mas Shamela. Es pas una bondadosa, umila e linhatge sirvienta, mas una creatura perversa e sensuala, que trama tot per atrapar a lo sieu senhor, Booby. Expausa aital las multiplas feblesas del trabalh de Richardson.

Aquesta es una de las òbras de Fielding que se representa en el lo metodismo coma una doctrina hipócrita. La maire de Shamela, metodista, apareis coma una prostituta qu'enviaue a la siá filha a escotar los sermones de George Whitefield. Lo personatge de Shamela resulta tanben dempuèi lo ponch de vista religiosa una farsa.
