El paexe el se ga proclamà libaro comune inte el 1225, ma dopo poco el perde l'autonomia canbiando pì volte i feudatari: prima el diventa feudo dei De Palatio e po' dei Sanbonifacio. Inte el 1405 el feudo el pasa ai Verità, sucessivamente ai Malaspina e po' ai Montanari.
