Soses
Soses es un municipi de la província catalana de Lhèida, de la Comunautat Autonòma de la Generalitat de Catalonha e de la comarca de Segrià.
Toponimia
La prononciacion es ['sozes]. Las fòrmas ancianas son Soses en 1149, Sosas en 1168, 1173, Sos en 1179, 1212, Soes en 1359, etc. Cf. la Sosa, riusset de nauta Llitera. Soses pòt venir del nom de la sosa o barrella [planta salina del genre Salsola], d'ont s'extrai lo mineral sodic. L'etimologia de sosa es l'arabe sauda, « negrosa ». A l'entorn abondan los salancs ont la sosa se plai. Dins las comunas a l'entorn, i a de toponimes El Salà(r) que van dins aquel sens. Lo nom se redusiguèt en Soes (1359) > Sos [1].
Gebut
Lòc despoblat, vilatge ibèr, ancian castèl sarrasin. Las fòrmas ancianas son Iebut en 1120, Iabud en 1172, Jabud en 1179, Algabut en 1175, Gibut en 1184, Gebut en 1196 e 1359, Ajabut en 1200 e 1347, Ajebut en 1310, etc. Lo nom de persona Gibot o Agibot es frequent en Catalonha a la meteissa epòca. Lo nom non se pòt explicar per l'arabe, ven del nom germanic d'òme Agibōd, format de doás rasics fecondas, agi e bod. Lo nom passèt de o a u per influéncia araba [2].
