Hurleyella là một chi ruồi nhỏ thuộc họ Dolichopodidae, phân bố tại các giới Tân Bắc và Tân nhiệt đới.[1][2] Chi này thuộc nhóm không chính thức "micro-dolichopodids" – tập hợp các chi ruồi ở Tân Thế giới có chiều dài cơ thể từ 1 mm trở xuống. Hurleyella có mối quan hệ họ hàng gần nhất với các chi Microcyrtura, Microchrysotus và Micromedetera. Vị trí phân họ của chi hiện chưa chắc chắn, dù một số đặc điểm hình thái cho thấy chúng có nét tương đồng với phân họ Medeterinae. Tên chi được đặt theo tên của nhà nghiên cứu bộ Ruồi quá cố Richard Hurley.[1]
Khác với các đại diện khác thuộc nhóm micro-dolichopodid vốn ưa thích hoặc chỉ sống ở môi trường ẩm ướt, các cá thể trưởng thành của Hurleyella lại sinh sống tại những sinh cảnh tương đối khô ráo và thông thoáng.[2]
