Gereña (Guereña gaztelaniaz) Gasteizko udalerria osatzen duten herrietako bat da. 1975 arte Foronda udalerriaren barruan egon zen.
Hiriaren ipar-mendebaldean dago, Forondako aireportutik hurbil.
Historia
Herriaren izena Erdi Aroko dokumentazioan ikus daiteke, behin baino gehiagotan. Lehen agerpena Becerro Galicanoko Donemiliagako goldean, 1025. urteko datazioarekin, eta aldaera grafiko honekin: Gerenga. (<ng> letra bikote hori sudurkari bustia ahoskatzen zela uste da).[1]
Hurrengo agerpena, dokumentazioan, 1257ko beste dokumentu ezagun batean, Calahorra katedraleko anoatzailea zen Jerónimo Aznarrek hguerena aldaera ematen da, sudurkariaren bustidura markatu gabe.[2][3]
Demografia
Gasteiztik hain hurbil egonik, populazioa laukoiztu egin da XXI. mendearen hasieratik.
