เจเนราลิสซีโม

เจเนราลิสซีโม (generalissimo) เป็นคำในภาษาอิตาลี มาจากคำว่า generale ประสมกับส่วนต่อท้ายคำ -issimo ซึ่งมาจากภาษาละติน -issimus^[1] ซึ่งหมายถึง "อย่างที่สุด, ไปจนถึงขั้นสูงสุด" เป็นยศทางทหารที่สูงกว่าจอมพล

เจเนราลิสซีโมเป็นผู้คุมอำนาจทางทหารอย่างเบ็ดเสร็จ ในบางครั้ง "เจเนราลิสซีโม" ถูกใช้ในภาษาอังกฤษใหม่ โดยมีความหมายถึง นายทหารผู้ซึ่งได้รับอำนาจทางการเมืองจากการก่อรัฐประหาร หรือในบางกรณีที่หมายถึงผู้ที่สั่งระงับรัฐธรรมนูญฉบับก่อนหน้า เพื่อที่จะครอบครองอำนาจด้วยวิธีทางทหาร
