ภาษาโบโด[2] หรือ ภาษาโบโร[3] (बर'/बड़ो, แม่แบบ:IPA-bo) จัดอยู่ในตระกูลภาษาย่อยทิเบต-พม่า พูดโดยชาวโบโดที่อยู่ทางตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของอินเดียและเนปาล เคยเขียนด้วยอักษรละติน ปัจจุบันเขียนด้วยอักษรเทวนาครี

การจัดจำแนกและภาษาที่เกี่ยวข้อง

ภาษาโบโดเป็นภาษาในตระกูลภาษาจีน-ทิเบต มีความใกล้เคียงกับภาษาดีมาซาในอัสสัม และภาษากาโรในรัฐเมฆาลัย และใกล้เคียงกับภาษากอกบอรอกในรัฐตรีปุระ

ประวัติ

ระบำของชาวโบโด

หลังจากมีการจัดตั้งองค์กรโบโดขึ้นใน พ.ศ. 2456 ได้มีการนำภาษานี้ไปเป็นสื่อในระดับมัธยมศึกษา และเป็นภาษาราชการร่วมของรัฐอัสสัม และมีการเปิดสอนรายวิชาด้วยภาษาโบโดในมหาวิทยาลัยคุวนตีใน พ.ศ. 2539 ภาษาโบโดยังมีหนังสือเกี่ยวกับกวีนิพนธ์ ละคร เรื่องสั้น นิยาย ชีวประวัติ หนังสือนำเที่ยว และหนังสือสำหรับเด็ก ภาษาที่ใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันจะได้รับอิทธิพลจากภาษาข้างเคียงเช่น ภาษาเบงกอล

ระบบการเขียน

การเขียนภาษาโบโดอย่างเป็นทางการใช้อักษรเทวนาครี แม้ว่าจะเคยใช้อักษรละตินและอักษรอัสสัมเป็นเวลานาน [4] นักวิจัยบางคนกล่าวว่าภาษานี้เคยมีอักษรเป็นของตนเองแต่สูญหายไปแล้ว เรียกอักษรเดโอได
